NEW GENERATION OF HOT WATER TANKS - BUFFER TANKS AND SOLAR TANKS FOR HEAT PUMPS, PELLET BOILERS, OIL/GAS BOILERS, ENERGY STOVES

The buffer tank is an essential component in heating systems, whether it's pellet boilers, wood boilers, heat pumps, energy stoves, wood gasification boilers, or oil/gas boilers. They offer significant fuel savings because the heat pump or boiler does not need to operate during the time when hot water circulation is provided by the water stored in the buffer tank.

What is a Buffer Tank and what is its purpose?
Buffer tanks are essentially storage tanks (additional space) for saving water (hot or cold).

Storage of hot water for heating (via radiators or underfloor heating) or domestic hot water (DHW)
The buffer tank is connected in series with the boiler (whether it's an oil, gas, pellet/biomass, wood boiler, or heat pump) or with solar collectors.

It is a well-insulated tank designed to maintain high water temperatures for a long time. The purpose of the buffer tank is to store hot water when it is produced during the operation of any type of boiler, heat pump, or solar collector, and to provide hot water when the boiler or heat pump stops operating or when the sun sets and the solar collector stops producing hot water.

For example, if a heat pump or boiler operates from 6 PM to 10 PM, during these 4 hours, it produces high-temperature hot water, which is circulated through the radiators or underfloor heating system, providing space heating. During the operation of the boiler or heat pump, hot water is stored in the buffer tank. When the boiler or heat pump stops operating, the circulator begins to transfer the hot water stored in the buffer tank to the radiators or underfloor heating system, providing free heating for many more hours.

This way, we achieve energy savings, and therefore cost savings, as we use the hot water from the buffer tank (BUFFER-0) and do not need to continuously operate the boiler or heat pump to have hot water in the radiators or underfloor heating system. The same applies to domestic hot water (DHW) if the buffer tank (BUFFER-1) is connected to solar collectors or an buffer tank (BUFFER-1 INOX) with a stainless steel heat exchanger.

Additionally, when it comes to heating produced by electricity (heat pump, resistors, electric boiler), the buffer tank can store energy by taking advantage of the low nighttime electricity rates.

Cold water storage
Βuffer tanks operate in the same way as above for cold water storage (instead of hot water), with the only difference being that instead of being connected to solar collectors or a boiler, they are connected to water chillers. Here, we also achieve energy and cost savings because even though the chiller motor has stopped operating, the circulator continues to transfer cold water from the buffer tank.

The Megasun Helioakmi buffer tanks have multiple "inlets-outlets" (1" & 1½"), allowing them to be connected to various heat sources (wood boilers, pellet burners, heat pumps, oil/gas boilers, pyrolysis boilers, ion electric boilers, energy stoves, solar collectors), providing not only economical heating but also free domestic hot water.

NEW GENERATION OF MEGA TANK INOX TANKS (DN25 and DN32)

FOR DOMESTIC HOT WATER AND SPACE HEATING
WITH 6 DIFFERENT HEAT SOURCES

The MEGA TANK INOX 300-500-800-1000-1000 (2500lt/h) domestic hot water tanks are specially designed for the continuous supply of DHW in hotels of any scale. The innovative MEGA TANK INOX tanks feature a special stainless steel serpentine for direct DHW production using the "fresh water" technology. The domestic hot water passes through the stainless steel serpentine and is heated directly, without coming into contact with the stored hot water in the tank, ensuring absolutely fresh and clean hot water. The need for tank disinfection (anti-legionella) is eliminated, as the water reaching the outlets is continuously renewed.

The large exchange surface and the large diameter (DN25 or DN32) ensure the high efficiency of the system, with flows reaching up to 2500lt/h. A MEGA TANK INOX 1000 (2500lt/h DHW output) can meet the needs of a 25-30 room hotel during peak demand for 1.5 hours or more, with uniform distribution and a duration of 20 minutes per shower. Of course, the above proposal is not absolute and can be adjusted according to the project requirements and the estimation of each designer.

The MEGA TANK INOX 1000 tanks are ideal for space heating and, due to their multiple connections, can simultaneously be connected to a low/high-temperature heat pump, gas/oil/pellet boiler, solar collectors, or other renewable energy sources, providing both space heating and domestic hot water through the large stainless steel heat exchanger DN25 / DN32 they feature.

New Generation of Hot Water Tanks for Heat Pumps

7 UNIQUE ADVANTAGES
check  Continuous operation of the heat pump without interruptions and ALARM
The design of the MEGA TANK - INOX allows the heat pump to operate without interruptions or reduction in compressor speed without triggering ALARM due to overheating, which happens with most hot water tanks with a fixed heat exchanger (serpentine), especially if the heat pump is not INVERTER.

check  Clean domestic hot water
The domestic hot water (consumption) continuously passes through the stainless steel heat exchanger without being permanently stored in the tank, thus avoiding the growth of dangerous bacteria (legionella phenomenon).

check  Lower electricity consumption
The continuous and direct charging of the tank by the heat pump without the intermediation of a metal heat exchanger allows the heat pump to have longer operating intervals (without stops and starts) of the compressor or without reducing its speed in the case of INVERTER heat pumps, thus offering lower electricity consumption.

check  Long lifespan
The consumption water passes through the 316L stainless steel heat exchanger, ensuring a longer lifespan compared to a common large-capacity tank. Additionally, the spiral design of the heat exchanger prevents salt deposits, ensuring long-term durability.

check  18 connections 1 ½'' 1 ¼" for adding up to 6 different heat sources
The MEGA TANK - INOX tanks have 18 connections of 1 ½’’, allowing the installation of additional heat sources, such as gas/oil boilers, electric boilers, wood boilers, energy stoves, electric resistors, solar collectors, etc.

check  Space saving – easy installation – lower cost
The MEGA TANK - INOX DN 32 tanks occupy less space in the boiler room because they provide at least double the volume of hot water compared to their capacity and require much lower installation costs.

check  Efficient – Functional – Easy to install
The rapid natural heating of domestic hot water by the tank directly and without forced circulation, combined with the presence of the large surface heat exchanger, makes it particularly efficient and functional without requiring specialized installation and maintenance personnel.

FRESH WATER DN16 (200L – 300L)

These types of tanks (200L -300L) are ideal and recommended for domestic use and can be connected to high-temperature heat pumps or solar collectors. They provide domestic hot water through a 316L stainless steel heat exchanger with a diameter of DN16. The domestic hot water (consumption) continuously passes through the stainless steel heat exchanger without being permanently stored in the tank, thus avoiding the growth of dangerous bacteria (legionella phenomenon). Additionally, the spiral design of the heat exchanger prevents salt deposits, ensuring greater durability over time.
